Hey there!

I’m Jess, an illustrator and art educator.

A sneak peek of my Teaching Philosophy:

As a visual arts educator, I am committed to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment where students can discover and cultivate their unique artistic voices. I believe that art not only develops technical skills but also nurtures empathy, critical thinking, and self-expression. By creating a supportive classroom grounded in mutual respect, I empower students to take creative risks and engage deeply in their learning. My approach prioritizes process over product, embracing experimentation and growth through constructive, individualized feedback. Recognizing the diverse ways students learn and express themselves, I implement multimodal assessments, including portfolios, critiques, hands-on projects, and self-reflections, ensuring a holistic and equitable evaluation of student progress. More than just an art-making space, my classroom is a hub of creativity, critical inquiry, and cultural exchange, where students develop confidence, resilience, and social responsibility. With a passion for art and a commitment to equity, I strive to inspire the next generation of artists to use their creative voices to make a meaningful impact on the world.
